1900-1920s Windsor collection
Arthur Octavius Windsor, initially a coffin furniture maker, moved over to making banjos in the early 1900s. Windsor started a factory on Newhall Street in the city centre.
Windsor had great craftsmanship in making instruments. String, percussion and wind instruments where predominantly made. During the war, sadly like most of the city it was destroyed in an air raid.
This collection included - 13.5 inch snare, 27x6 Bass drum and 27x5.5 Pancake bass drum. New calfskin lapped, hand made additional tension rods and screws as they are impossible to find replacements.
Ajax/Edgeware Mardi Gras
Stunning Ajax Mardi Gras kit went under refurbishment.
Very lovely little jazz kit in a stunning Mardi Gras wrap. A full restoration included bringing back that stunning wrap and removing scratches from it. New bearing edges cut on snare. Reinforcement ring repaired and glued back onto Bass drum.
Was a lot of work but a stunning kit to work with.
George Potter Rope Tension Drum
Made by George Potter (Now Henry Potter) date stamped 9/9/1920 Inside.
31” bass drum came to me in a bad way. Mould had take over most of the drum deteriorating the rope, tuning ears and wood shell. Lapped new Calf head both sides, new rope and some new ears.
A lovely antique monster to work with.
