Windsor Birmingham - 25x5.5 Bass Drum - Antique 1900s - Calfheads & Brass Fittings.

£395.00

Selling off a few pieces from my Birmingham history collection here at Conundrum.

Arthur Octavius Windsor, initially a coffin furniture maker, moved over to making banjos in the early 1900s. Windsor started a factory on Newhall Street in the city centre.

Windsor had great craftsmanship in making instruments. String, percussion and wind instruments were predominantly made. During the war, sadly like most of the city it was destroyed in an air raid.

Super thin shell at 5.5 inches deep great for quirky small gigs but you want a big sound

Wrap is a veneer wrap in good condition some slight bubbling in places.

Would be great in a studio for a statement piece and usable too.

Comes with Clip on spurs and installed light LED inside with an rope (aesthetic Power lead) Normal 3 pin Plug.

I have fully stripped down, cleaned the shell and some of the parts but left it looking rustic.

Sad to say this bass drum comes with its 100 year old problems:

Both hoops are a bit out of round.

Calfheads are either very old or original (no rips or holes) but have got some tape residue.

In my collection there is a 27” bass drum, 13.5”x4” Snare.

All have calfskin heads mostly original and are all very usable instruments.
